A comprehensive breast screening ultrasound includes:

  • Imaging of both breasts - evaluation of both axillary regions ( underarms )

  • Detailed assessment of the retroareolar areas ( behind the nipples )

  • Interpretation by a Board-Certified Radiologist

  • Full access to your report and ultrasound images

To help ensure the best image quality and a smooth experience, please keep the following in mind:

  • Avoid applying powder, lotion, or perfume on your chest or underarms the day of your exam

  • Wear comfortable clothing - you may be asked to change into a gown or adjust your top for access

  • During the scan , you'll lie on your back or side, with your arms raised above your head to allow proper access

  • A clear, warm gel will be applied to the skin over the area being examined - the technologist will use a handheld device ( called a transducer ) to gently press against your skin and capture images of the breast tissue

  • The entire procedure typically takes about 20 minutes

  • Your comfort and privacy are always a priority throughout the exam
